my shadow wings
photography has done something to me. for me. all around me. I am reminded of Carlos Casteneda's description of the difference between looking and seeing.
When i take photos, my attention shifts, my mind tends to quiet and i listen and speak from another place than my ears and my voice. Where i am isn't necessarily anywhere more important than my regular life, but it certainly is a different place for me, and mysterious and wonderfully unexplained and peaceful.

unbalanced balance
the edges of a photograph have visual weight and we're usually looking for a balance that seems natural without being contrived. This balances for me in an unbalanced way - which is to say in a more natural way.

standing cautiously in this world
I try to step lightly. I try to be lightly. The goal here is to - at best - leave the world a better place and - at worst - harm the world as little as possible.
I will still have to attone for the many cigarette butts i threw out the window even though i was pretty conscientious about it, especially later in life.
