Down Carolina Lane / Chicken Alley area. This seems to be a development area for graffiti - a way to test putting up tags and new types of graffiti such as this one which is just lace hit with paint afterwards.

christopher's poppy angel
... and of course Christopher's garden is a real garden with real plants. Hard not to love nature when presented by the Gnomon.

mixed media
Christopher's garden near the Gas-up in West Asheville is a constantly renewing source of inspiration for me. Here he sets things where they seem right (or leaves them where he forgets them as he says) and so the random items and their arbitrary placement change constantly. With seasons changing over months and the light changing in minutes, it presents a constantly evolving art cycle/process that thrills me somewhere deep inside that's hard to define in words.
I respond to it by photographing it without self-consciousness. I am not thinking of concept or projection, of meaning or careful balance, just fitting as much mystery into the frame as is possible with the scale of garden detail.
His garden has soul. Thanks, Christopher.
graffiti green and green
construction in virginia creeper, brick wall and graffiti - this was at the Asheville Ice and Storage building that is covered with graffiti in the back. A wonderful and peaceful - tho trashy - place.

graffiti removal
The masking or 'removal' of tags, grafs or stencils can - in and of themselves - be beautiful abstract art.

broken paint
many tiny details lead up to an automobile wreck, and many tiny details are left in it's wake. This is just one.

little waterfall
ok, a bit of filter work, but i really do love what GraphicConverter's 'gloom' filter can do with the right scene. Usually nature, and involving leaves for some reason (at least for me). Big thanks to Brant who got me back into using my ND filters to smooth troubled waters! :)

self-portrait in light squares
At Christopher's garden, the evening and a chair leaves a nice pattern all over me.

abstract drum top
Found in my own neighborhood, a couple of 55 gallon drums with paint drips and drabs that seems like a universe unfolding...

blue star abstract
i have found a great wall for photography... one of those places that i could spend hours photographing. It's downtown asheville off of Broadway, and i took a bunch of shots but my heart was careening around in my ribcase and i'm afraid i couldn't concentrate - i lack zen apparently.
Anyway, i'm going thru the pics slowly to lovingly evaluate each one and will probably post more here.

Just loved the color and the design. The string caught in the mix didn't hurt none either...

moon eclipse my first glimpse
yesterday was the eclipse and i took this shot right after i set the tripod up. I then proceeded to take an hour of photos of the changing faces of the eclipsing moon and few of them came out. None as good as this, anyway.
So here it is.
